In Ayurveda, Kapha is one of the three operating forces in the body. It governs stability and steadiness and provides physical strength and stamina. It is heavy, dull, cold, oily, sweet, steady, slow, soft, smooth and sticky.
When Kapha is in balance the body is strong, resistant to disease, calm and self contained. The mind feels tranquil, happy, serene and retentive power is high. They are affectionate, complacent, tolerant and forgiving.
When Kapha is imbalanced or disturbed, it causes heaviness in the body and mind, laziness, congestion in the sinus or chest, allergies, painful joints.
